This direction changes our approach from a home where the resident fits
into our schedule to one where the needs of each individual are
respected and understood and there is flexibility in our routines. Our
goal, as we move forward, is to honor a resident’s life and to
understand who they are and what they need and want. We need to listen
to what they say through both their words and their actions. To
accomplish this culture change, our team members need to feel empowered
to with the ability to make care decisions each day to ensure a
resident’ needs and wants are respected.
